Interview with Tobie Lang

Me and Em decided we would interview Tobie Lang on how he became a technician.

We asked him;

Why did you decide to become a media technician?

Is it what you thought it would be like?

Is there anything that you don’t like about the job?

What’s your favourite part about the job?

What is the next thing in your career?

 

Cold Fusion

Here is my final cut of my short film. I was able to keep it under three minutes. When I watch it back I am happy with how it looks however there are a few things that I would change about. I would of liked to re-do a few camera shots as they are not the best. Also I would of liked to try some pan shots. I did have these written down but because of time problems I wasn't able to do it. If I was to redo this move I would of made sure I stared recording as soon as I can so if there any problems with cast or site and can fix and work round them.
Over all I am very happy with how this short film turned out, I am looking forward to the next film I get to do and be able to apply and develop the skills I have learnt from this project.

Filming With A Green Screen

Today I started filming for my sort film call 'Cold Fusion' for this scene I used a green screen. This was the first time I had ever used a one.
This is what my set up looked liked. I used two lights to light the green screen as you need to get the same colour a cross the whole green screen. I then used two soft boxes for the actors.

Once I was in Premiere Pro I was able to use the 'Ultra Key' tool select the green screen. Once I had done this I was able to use photos to place over the green screen.    
The last image is of what the scene could look like once I put a photo in.

For the project we were told we had to make a short film based around a Scenario. We had to crete everything from the script to the camera shots.

Scenario
The UK has just signed a deal with China to build a new Nuclear Power Plant in Bridgehaven at a huge cost to the taxpayer.  Meanwhile, a publicly crowdfunded science laboratory has had a major breakthrough in it’s cold fusion tests - could this be the answer to the world's problems. and ensure that the government's nuclear plans are not scuppered.  

First I wanted to look at what cold fusion was and how it works so that I would have a better understanding when creating my film. Cold fusion is a way that you can create nuclear energy at room tempter. By doing this you would be saving then environment because you wouldn't be burning fossil fuels. It is also a lot cheaper then fossil fuels one gallon of heavy water costs $1000. Heavy water is a key part to cold fusion. The oceans already have heavy water which cold last thousands of years. Also one gallon of heavy water is the equivalent to 300,000 gallons of fossil fuels. It would also have positive affect on the food market. It would reduce food production so food would be cheaper.

However looking at the positives of cold fusion there are some negatives. People would lose there jobs as the coal mines wouldn't be needed as much also nuclear power plants wont be in high demand so there wouldn't need to be as many of them.

Looking at the positives and negatives of cold fusion it really mad me think of what sort of short film I'm going to make, and what sort of charters I'm going to have.
